Akorn also said that through its Akorn-Strides joint venture, it has started making a version of vancomycin HCL for injection, an antibiotic used against life-threatening infections, at its Decatur plant on a contract basis.
Akorn shares rose 31 cents, or nearly 22 percent, to close at $1.73 on Thursday.
