Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Isis) is engaged in antisense technology, exploiting a drug discovery platform created to generate first-in-class drugs. The Company operates in two business segments: Drug Discovery and Development, and Regulus Therapeutics Inc. (Regulus). Within the drug discovery and development segment, Isis is exploiting a drug discovery platform created to generate a range of first-in-class drugs for the Company and its partners. Isis can identify drugs, providing targets to treat a range of diseases. As of December 31, 2009, the Company have 22 drugs in development. Regulus is focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of micro ribonucleic acid (RNA) therapeutics. In January 2009, the Company completed the sale of Ibis Biosciences, Inc. to Abbott Molecular Inc. (AMI).
