Axovant reports 4Q loss

HAMILTON, Bermuda (AP) _ Axovant Sciences Ltd. (AXON) on Tuesday reported a loss of $52.8 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Hamilton, Bermuda-based company said it had a loss of 53 cents.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 51 cents per share.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $181 million, or $1.82 per share.

Axovant shares have climbed 74 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 46 percent in the last 12 months.
